Our Origin Story

To ignite change and empower the often-overlooked voices of women, youth, and children with disabilities. This collective dream marked the birth of what would soon become a beacon of hope and transformation: Youth Enabled Zambia (YEZ).

The Genesis

The genesis of YEZ can be traced back to a series of conversations held in community halls, echoing the experiences and aspirations of those whose voices had been silenced for far too long. It began with the recognition that within the tapestry of Zambian society, there existed a vibrant yet underserved community—brimming with untapped potential.

The Genesis

The Spirit

In the spirit of inclusion and a fervent desire for equal opportunities, the founders of YEZ embarked on a journey to break down barriers and amplify the strengths of those with diverse abilities. The organization's roots were firmly planted in the belief that every woman, youth, and child, regardless of their physical or cognitive differences, deserved not only a seat at the table but a chance to lead and thrive.

What was forged

As the founders forged ahead, YEZ emerged not merely as an organization but as a movement—one driven by a commitment to inclusivity, empowerment, advocacy, equality, and global solidarity. The early days were marked by grassroots efforts, with dedicated individuals knocking on doors, organizing community gatherings, and initiating dialogues that would shape the organization's future.

The Momentum

YEZ's journey gained momentum as it garnered support from like-minded individuals, local communities, and international allies who shared in the belief that diversity is the heartbeat of progress. Collaborative partnerships were formed, amplifying the impact and reach of YEZ's initiatives beyond geographical boundaries.

The Program

Through educational programs, skill-building workshops, advocacy campaigns, and sustainable projects, YEZ steadily became a catalyst for change. The organization not only empowered women, youth, and children with disabilities but also challenged societal norms, fostering a culture where differences were celebrated and opportunities were accessible to all.

The Program

Today

Today, as Youth Enabled Zambia stands tall, it is more than an organization; it is a testament to the resilience of a community that refused to be defined by limitations. The origin story of YEZ is one of passion, determination, and the unwavering belief that in unity, there is strength. From those humble beginnings, YEZ continues to script a narrative of empowerment, inclusion, and boundless possibilities for all.
